Auditions

We will be holding auditions throughout the month of March 2010.  We will potentially be bringing 3 – 7 women and 3 – 7 men into the group.  Here are the audition details:

·         Prospective members will attend and fully participate in all five regular Swing Cats rehearsals during the month of March 2010, specifically on 03/03, 03/10, 03/17, 03/24 and 03/31.

·         Regular rehearsals are held on Wednesday evenings from 7:00 to 10:00 pm at Four Seasons Dance Studio, located at 1637 Hennepin Ave S, just south of downtown Minneapolis by Loring Park.

·         Prospective members will learn a Swing Cats choreography during the first four rehearsals in March and will perform the choreography during the final rehearsal in March.

·         Throughout the five rehearsals, prospective members will be evaluated on the following:  dance experience and ability, learning speed and ability, showmanship, athleticism, teamwork, attitude, personality, age and hygiene.

·         Prospective members will register and pay a $25 audition fee at the first rehearsal on Wednesday, March 3^rd.

·         Swing Cats director Cindy Gardner will choose new members from those participating in the auditions, with consideration for input from current members of the Swing Cats.  New members will be notified of their selection by phone by Friday, April 4^th, and are expected to begin participating in regular rehearsals on Wednesday, April 7^th.

Rehearsals

·         Regular rehearsals are held on Wednesday evenings, 7:00 – 10:00 pm, at Four Seasons Dance Studio (located at 1637 Hennepin Ave S, just south of downtown Minneapolis, by Loring Park).  Dancers are expected to be dressed in rehearsal apparel and ready to begin at 7:00 pm.

·         Additional rehearsals will occasionally be called for specific training purposes, sectionals or gig preparation.  These rehearsals will be held up to three times per month.

·         Swing Cats members will attend rehearsals on a regular basis, missing no more than 6 – 8 rehearsals per year.

Performances

·         The Swing Cats may perform up to five or six times per month; some months may have fewer or no performances.

·         Group members will participate in all performances, with exception for work commitments, family emergencies, etc.

·         Performances are sometimes paid and sometimes pro bono, depending on the client’s budget.

Commitment

·         New members are expected to make a minimum one-year commitment to the group.
